MOSCOW — Russia's Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that it downed 45 Ukrainian drones in a series of attacks on various regions across the country, including the capital, Moscow.

According to the ministry, 11 drones were shot down over the Moscow region and another three over the neighboring Kaluga region.

An additional 23 drones were downed over the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, while six were "destroyed" over Belgorod and two over Kursk, both also bordering Ukraine.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin described the incident as "one of the largest attempts to attack Moscow with drones ever," but confirmed there were no casualties or damage.

Ukrainian authorities have not commented on Russia's claims. However, Ukraine's General Staff reported hitting an S-300 missile defense system near Novoshakhtinsk in the Rostov region.

Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev confirmed that a missile was downed in the west of the region, with no reported casualties or damage. — Agencies
