RIYADH — The Saudi General Authority for Roads has stated that deaths resulting from traffic accidents jump by approximately 27 percent before the time of iftar during Ramadan. It also mentioned that there is an increase of about 10 percent in road accident fatalities before the dawn call to prayer (fajr) during the holy month.

The authority stressed the importance of adhering to safety instructions while driving. It has carried out more than 112 inspection tours and related activities in its bid to ensure the quality of road projects and maintenance works during the month of February 2024, and these include 38 operations to review designs of road projects, and nine operations for road construction materials.

The authority officials also conducted inspection tours covering 32 factories that manufacture road construction materials and 33 road projects. This aims to raise the level of quality and safety, ensure adherence to quality specifications and standards, and enhance the level of control and supervision of roads.
