ALULA — Film AlUla, operated by the Royal Commission for AlUla, announced the production of "Siwar," a feature film directed by Osama Alkhurayji, a renowned Saudi filmmaker.

This project focuses on economic diversification and cultural enhancement, and showcases Film AlUla's commitment to nurturing local talent through various incentives.

"Siwar" unfolds a poignant story of two families caught in a dramatic twist involving their newborns.

Set over three distinct chapters, it explores the lives of Yaner, a Turkish father, and Hamad, a Saudi father, amidst societal and personal struggles, showcasing Alkhurayji's talent for creating relatable, multi-dimensional narratives.

Osama Alkhurayji, also the CEO of Hakawati Entertainment, has been a significant figure in filmmaking since 2007, recognized both locally and internationally.

His repertoire includes collaborations with global networks and platforms like Netflix, Shahid, and SBA, and co-directing the acclaimed 2018 film “Joud.”

Omar Said, with an extensive background in international film production, is the producer of “Siwar.”

Said's career spans projects in various countries and his work with notable filmmaker Tony Kaye. His regional credits include the TV series “Ureem” and “The Judgement,” and the Netflix production “Naga.”

Following other major Saudi projects like Netflix's “The Matchmaker” and Tawfik Alzaidi’s “Norah,” “Siwar” represents another stride in Saudi Arabia's film industry.

"Norah," a notable local feature also shot in AlUla, premiered at the Red Sea International Film Festival.

Charlene Deleon-Jones, executive director of Film AlUla, emphasized the agency's role in fostering high-quality film production and nurturing local talent.

AlUla, with its rich storytelling heritage, is an ideal location for showcasing emerging filmmakers.

Omar Said expressed his enthusiasm for the thriving Saudi film industry and the anticipation of captivating global audiences with “Siwar.”

Alkhurayji also highlighted the film's potential to showcase the region's unique stories and cultural depth.

Film AlUla's strategies include rebates and incentives for new filmmakers, collaboration with international experts for skills training, and mentoring programs like AlUla Creates, backed by figures like Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen, Haifaa Al Mansour, and Mila Al Zahrani.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to stimulate the regional film industry and empower future generations in various creative fields.

Furthermore, Film AlUla is enhancing its infrastructure with a state-of-the-art production facility.

This facility, nearing completion, will include a soundstage, backlot, and various support structures to accommodate diverse production needs, signifying a significant leap in the region's film production capabilities.
