RIYADH — A precise surgical intervention, spanning six stages, conducted by surgeons at the Maternity and Children's Hospital in Buraidah, central Saudi Arabia, in mid-November, has successfully restored mobility to a child afflicted with quadriplegia, enabling him to stand and walk.

The Health Ministry explained that the 7-year-old child was grappling with paralysis in all four limbs, unable to wear regular shoes, stand, or walk.

After thorough examinations, the medical team opted for a surgical intervention to lengthen the short tendons around the feet, knees, and hips.

The surgery comprised six stages within a single session, lasting for approximately three hours.

Health officials affirmed the success of the surgeries, and the child's condition has stabilized. He can now walk following the removal of the cast.

A remarkable achievement in the realm of pediatric surgery, showcasing the dedication of medical professionals in enhancing the lives of young patients.
