RIYADH — The oversight wing of the prisons and detention centers in various regions of Saudi Arabia conducted inspection tours on prison wards housing people arrested for crimes related to drugs and psychotropic substances.

The inspection tours were to follow up on guarantees given to detainees and prisoners according to the Public Prosecution Law and the Criminal Procedure Law, as well as the Imprisonment and Detention Law.

The tours also ensured the safety of the places where the detainees and prisoners were housed, as well as the efficiency of the services provided to them, including follow-up on their cases and measures taken to hold their trials without any delay.

The Public Prosecution is the judicial authority competent to monitor and inspect prisons and detention centers, in accordance with the law. A guide prepared by the Public Prosecution and launched by Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Muajab in early 2023 includes all the details of work in this regard.
