BEIRUT — Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian announced that he will visit Saudi Arabia after receiving an official invitation from Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan to visit the Kingdom.

The Iranian foreign minister made these remarks during a press conference in Beirut, Lebanon, where he noted that he, too, had sent an official invitation to Prince Faisal Bin Farhan to visit Tehran. Prince Faisal too welcomed the invitation.

As for the embassies, he revealed that both embassies in Saudi Arabia and Iran will be reopened in the next few days. He confirmed that the recent development between Riyadh and Iran has opened a gate toward a positive climate at the regional level.

During his 3-day visit to Lebanon, the Iranian foreign minister indicated that the region has entered a new phase of collective cooperation.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia and Iran, in a joint statement with China on March 10, agreed to resume diplomatic relations between them and reopen their embassies within a maximum period of 2 months.

Earlier, a technical team from the two countries arrived in Tehran and Riyadh to visit their diplomatic headquarters and embassies to discuss reopening diplomatic missions between the two countries.
