American artist Michael Jackson is known worldwide for his legendary and record-breaking music career. The icon popularly dubbed “King of Pop” has had multiple encounters with the law, from intellectual property to family law, personal status, inheritance and ultimately medical malpractice.

Jackson died in 2009 from a medical error. In his life, Jackson constantly faced medical issues as his basic features often changed, taking into consideration Jackson's famous trials with his private doctor over his skin color change.

Undoubtedly, there must be additional legislative and procedural amendments at the legal and judicial level with cases of medical malpractice as well as the healthcare industry in general.

Certainly, due to internal medical work, insurance companies overlap with doctors and health providers, which affect quality development. Therefore, responsibility lies with healthcare institutions in partnership with the insurance sector as they are the proprietors of the relationship with the patient and in turn for the billions of profits they attain.

However, the accountability of doctors and staff depends on their institutions.

In light of the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, this example illustrates the importance of legislation in general, including but not limited to the healthcare sector. Overlapping with judicial, legal and legislative matters together with social, humanitarian and media aspects.

The learning curve of this valuable lesson is the importance of specialization of consultants, lawyers and professionals alike. In the event of a patient’s death or disability, medical work heavily overlaps with legal matters, inheritance law, and partnerships with insurance and media industries.

Saudi Arabia is currently reforming under the leadership of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, leading the Kingdom to be one of the world's finest countries in improving the quality of life and maintaining high standards in human rights preservation.

This includes endorsing aspects of personal status, business sectors and criminal cases. In addition, clear legislation regarding penalties, as well as, civil transactions.

Surely, these reforms should include media, art, culture, communication and all aspects of the music and film industry, in which intellectual property laws play a very important and risky role.

Therefore, this is a call for the advancement of legislation, judges' qualifications and lawyers' specialization, in accordance with the mentioned fundamental amendments.
