The quality of being fair is a state that we all seek to attain and need, especially through our governmental systems with its main representative spearheading the principles of righteousness.
I trust that Saudi Arabia’s legal system is based on Shariah, Islamic law derived from the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah (the traditions) of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), which is the source of stability and justice for us as Muslims.
Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman’s announced four new laws to reform Saudi Arabia’s judicial institutions, and it was pleasant and reassuring news that promotes clarity and transparency, human rights and social stability.
Simply, this means, judgments will be issued without being swayed by the moods of the judge or members of the judicial institutions, no favoritism, and, the principle that all are equal before the law predicates that a judgment will be fair minded, objective and honest.
The process of change is not easy, especially when change is rapid. But with Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman everything is possible, as he confirmed, after announcing these new laws, that these laws will be implemented within a year.
Such decisions, which has been many years in coming, are sure to modernize the legislative authority while reforming the administrative, judicial and executive system in a manner appropriate to the new Saudi Vision 2030. And the people offer a big thanks to the leadership for this timely decision.
The new Saudi Arabia hopes to develop a judicial system that would be fair to all while achieving the principle of equal justice for male and female. A case in point is the case of a divorced woman and of child support will be henceforth treated differently, I believe.
Accordingly, the Minister of Justice declared that the new personal status system project will consider new a minimum age for marriage, also, they will take into account the will of woman in the marriage contract, furthermore, the new system prohibits criminalization without facts.
By doing this, I think they are helping to push downward the number of divorce cases and also see to that the arranged nuptials do not turn into unhappy marriages!
I see such changes are reasonable and normal, as logically none of us deserves to suffer and we all hope to be treated equally and in a just manner. To be honest, in some of the earlier judicial verdicts I have seen, sadly, I felt there was favor shown to the man over the woman!
However, with these new judicial laws I have faith that such issues will disappear and be a thing of the past.
Besides, this is a blessed and courageous move touching the people’s needs against corruption; and, we have a sharp system supporting all parties to process their work more effectively and quickly.
On top of this, Saudi Arabia abides by the strong moral principles, making human’s right their priority as stated by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
