The beautiful waterfront

Hamoud Abu Taleb

I am responsible here for what I am about to say. I believe the Jeddah waterfront is the most beautiful waterfront compared to those in many Arab and Western cities that I have visited.

I HAVE to admit that I never expected the Jeddah waterfront to look so beautiful. I would like to apologize to all related departments that were responsible for this project and participated in building it because I never believed that they would accomplish such a great job.

Whenever I passed by the waterfront project when it was under construction, the only thing I wondered about was when the work was going to finish and end the traffic congestion it was contributing to in the area.

As for the project and what was said about it, I believed that it would not be any different from many other projects that we were promised, the ones that we were disappointed about when they were completed to appear in a deformed shape lacking quality. We have always been dreaming about a project that made us proud.

I returned to the city a while ago after a long trip during which I heard a lot about the Jeddah waterfront project. I have seen some beautiful pictures, but I was always telling myself that these pictures could have been photoshopped to look beautiful. I have to forgive myself here for doubting this project because many of our esteemed projects lacked a touch of creativity and artistic imagination. Therefore, I decided that the first destination that I would visit after my return to the city would be the waterfront, and I did.

Since the first time I visited the place, I became addicted to it and wanted to visit the place again and again to it enjoy its beauty, which was far ahead of what I had imagined.

I am responsible here for what I am about to say. I believe the Jeddah waterfront is the most beautiful waterfront compared to those in many Arab and Western cities that I have visited. It is beautiful with its unique design and the excellent services provided.

The waterfront changed the psychological state of many people in the city. They are walking in an open museum by the sea where all the services people want is available.

A great thanks to the Jeddah Municipality and to the former Jeddah mayor Hani Abu Rass and his team. They deserve the thanks and appreciation for this unique work. Special thanks to the godfather of human development philosophy, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, who is the brain behind all these great achievements. Now it is up to the Jeddah people to preserve this place and protect it from vandals. We need to keep it clean and respect the rule of the place. We need to cooperate with the authorities to preserve this beauty forever.
