Don’t be afraid if you’re not stealing

There is a famous saying in GCC countries: “Do not be afraid if you are not stealing”. This also applies to drivers who should not be afraid of traffic laws if they are not violating them on the road.

Traffic laws and penalties for violating them are not aimed at all drivers, but only at those who do not follow the law when they are behind the wheel.

Those who complain about traffic violations and fines piling up should know that we are also complaining about the way they drive and the way they expose our lives to danger because of their driving. They are reckless drivers who speed and zigzag their way between cars while they are busy talking on their cell phones. They run through red lights and confuse other drivers on the road with their sudden turns. With all of this, do they really want us to be compassionate and sorry that they have been penalized?

To those who want to start an awareness campaign before applying new traffic regulations, I say that we have wasted tens of years on awareness campaigns, and none of them have changed the reality on the road. Reckless drivers are still reckless. I do not know why these people do not need an awareness campaign when they drive abroad, but then suddenly seem to need one when they return to the Kingdom.

In developed countries, stiff laws target violators and this has created the culture of respecting the law and abiding by it. As for us, we need to realize that tough traffic laws are meant to protect us and not to empty our pockets.

As for those who are convinced that these traffic laws target our pockets in the first place, then the easiest way to prevent the government from taking your money is by respecting the law and not committing any traffic violations.
