The process of referring the case to court was long overdue. The Qatari conspirators would have drowned in a deep sea of trouble if it was not for the tolerant and forgiving nature of the late King Abdullah

ADVISOR in the Royal Court Saud Al-Qahtani revealed in a tweet: “There was conspiracy on a higher level between the Qatari and Libyan regimes to murder King Abdullah, which will be raised in courts soon.”

Al-Qahtani, who was close to the events because of his job, spoke about the circumstances related to the revealing of the recordings and documents that proved without doubt that the Qatari and Libyan regimes planned to assassinate King Abdullah. The situation calmed after the Qatari regime apologized, and one of the results of this was Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani abdicating.

The process of referring the case to court was long overdue. The Qatari conspirators would have drowned in a deep sea of trouble if it was not for the tolerant and forgiving nature of the late King Abdullah. Still, let us imagine if the Saudi government had revealed the conspiracy at that time and presented indisputable evidence to the UN Security Council. The evidence included a recorded telephone conversation between Qatari Prince Hamad Bin Khalifa and Prime Minister Hamad Bin Jassem with the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

In addition to documents that proved transfer of money to the Saudi opposition in Britain, and recruitment/training of assassins for the mission, some of whom Libyan nationals who were arrested after they arrived in Saudi Arabia. So, what will be the position of the Qatari regime at that time, and how will they be viewed by the whole world in accordance with international law?

It is about time to hand over those involved in the plot to assassinate King Abdullah to justice. I think such a step is important to achieve justice and to save the system of international justice from collapsing.
