JEDDAH — Mohammed Iqbal Choudhry, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) passed away in Lahore while on leave Tuesday.
He was 75. He is survived by his wife, two sons (Afzal and Aqdas) and a daughter. His burial is likely to be in Lahore tomorrow.
He was a popular figure among sportsmen in Jeddah since 1979. He had been working with Naseem Al-Zahra establishment as financial controller. He went to Pakistan in July for medical check-up.
He was also associated with a number of organizations in different capacities. He was former executive secretary of Jeddah Cricket League (JCL), member of Pakistan Charted Accountants Forum, Pakistan Haj Volunteer Group and Salaheen Trust Pakistan. He was very popular among other communities in the Kingdom too.
Nadeem Nadwi, CEO of Saudi Cricket Centre; Aijaz Ahmed, president, JCA; cricket teams and players condoled the death of Mohammed Iqbal and said it was a big loss for cricket and his contributions to cricket in Saudi Arabia are massive.
In a condolence message to the bereaved family they expressed their heartfelt condolence and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give courage to his family to bear the loss.
