JEDDAH — Saudi designer Dalia Darwish recently launched her summer collection for Ramadan Thobes during a private exhibition.

“My inspiration came from the term grocery or farmers market where you see all these colorful vegetables and organic food.

“Each vegetable on its own with its beautiful vibrant color inspired me to create a modern Thobe combining four different types of fabrics for it.

“And since Ramadan is about fasting and people craving food, this inspiration happens to be perfect to show them how fashion can taste good too,” she said. The collection includes different types of vegetables, such as chili pepper, mushroom, zucchini, potato and kiwi among others.

She said hits of the year include the veggie dresses specifically chili pepper, zucchini, and kiwi.

“The bestsellers include the colored one with geometric shapes called Edge, the comic and Black and white stripped “Moo Dress.”

Other dresses include rice bag prints and simple white ones with bells.”

“Dolly” is a local name synonymous with fashionable Thobes alongside art creations and canvas paintings.
