TOKYO - Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking, announced that Japan’s Masazo Nonaka is the world’s oldest living man at 112. Nonaka was presented with the official certificate on Tuesday in his home town of Hoikkaido, Japan by Erika Ogawa, VP Japan for Guinness World Records.

Nonaka took the title after Francisco Nuñez Olivera of Spain passed away on Jan. 28, 2018 aged 113 years and 47 days. The oldest man ever is Jiroemon Kimura, also from Japan, who was born on April 19, 1897 and passed away aged 116 years 54 days on June 12, 2013.

Nonaka was born on July 25, 1905 and is the eldest of eight. He has 7 brothers and 1 sister in Ashoro, Hokkaido. He married Hatsuno in 1931, and is a father to five children (two boys and three girls). - SG
