Guard at girls school wounded in gun attack

JEDDAH — The guard of a girls' school in Jeddah was shot and wounded on Sunday by another guard who worked in a nearby school.
Brig. Gen. Ati Al-Qurashi, spokesman for Makkah region police, said the incident took place around 9 a.m. The victim, a 50-year-old Saudi national, was taken to hospital with bullet wounds but his condition was reported to be stable.
Al-Qurashi said the suspect, a Saudi in his 30s, later surrendered to the police and the weapon used in the attack was found with him.
The police spokemsan said the motive of the attack was not clear and the case was transferred to the Public Prosecution.
Hanouf Al-Sugairan, spokesman for Jeddah education department, said they would find replacements for the school guards.
