London -- WhatsApp is reportedly down as millions tried to send New Year's greetings.
Hundreds took to Twitter with the hashtag #whatsappdown beginning to trend.
The company had warned some models would find that the app would stop working as of midnight but many users are still hours away from 2018.
According to downdetector.co.uk the main hot spots for outages seem to be in Europe and North and South America.
