Special committee to issue Egyptian IDs in Jeddah

JEDDAH — The Committee of the Civil Status Organization is to issue and renew identity document (ID) cards of Egyptians in Saudi Arabia.

Egyptian Consul General Dr. Hazem Ramadan said that the Committee of the Civil Status Organization at the Ministry of Interior has started its functions as of Monday at the Consulate General of Egypt here to issue and renew the ID cards for Egyptians residing within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General in Jeddah.

“After the last mission of the Civil Status Organization, the consulate started to prepare a database for citizens wishing to issue and renew the national ID cards. When the date of arrival of the present committee was decided, the consulate sent text messages to citizens’ who had already registered. It was also announced through social media channels and at the official Facebook page of the Egyptian Consulate in Jeddah,” Ramadan added

The committee started its work and received citizens from Oct. 30 and will continue till close of business on Monday, Nov. 6, on two morning and evening shifts.

Ramadan added that these tasks, which are being coordinated between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior, are one of the steps adopted by the State for its citizens residing outside the homeland. He stressed that the consulate general has provided and prepared all the necessary resources to support the members of the Committee.
