Al-Madinah
I address the employees who work at Uhud Hospital in Madinah. To begin with, I would just like to mention some of the hospital’s history as documented on YouTube.
In July 2012 as well as in January 2015, we learned that stray cats were sharing rooms with patients at the so-called hospital. In February 2014, the hospital’s electricity supply was cut and in June 2014 many patients complained about the hospital’s negligence that caused their health to worsen.
Despite all this, I told myself that these incidents might be isolated and that the hospital might have improved. I carried these optimistic feelings on my way to the hospital to visit a friend last week. It was a great opportunity for me to actually see the hospital and hear from patients. Unfortunately, many patients told me that they felt neglected and were living in dirty rooms. Some patients said that their bed sheets had not been changed for almost a week.
I also saw the prison that some patients were living in. Those with mental illnesses were locked in their rooms and did not even have the simplest forms of entertainment, such as TVs. As a result, these people were using their own phones and tablets, even though their usage might prevent them from getting better.
I truly appreciate the people in Madinah who are trying their best to improve the hospital. I, therefore ask those responsible to immediately react and attempt to resolve this matter. If the hospital is short of finance, then I request that it involve charity organizations, which I am sure would be ready to help.
