JEDDAH — Under the patronage and presence of Prince Mishaal Bin Majed, governor of Jeddah, Batterjee Medical College (BMC) held a graduation ceremony of for its first batch of students Tuesday at Sheikh Abdul Jalil Batterjee Hall.
The ceremony began with the national anthem and recitation of verses from the Qur’an.
The academic staff led by Dr. Khalid Batterjee, dean of BMC, took over the stage with the graduating students.
Eng. Subhi Baterjee, chairman of the Board of Trustees BMC, said that the presence of Prince Mishaal will be valuable memory in the minds of the graduates and their families.
Valuing the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and Second Deputy Premier Prince Muqrin Bin Abdul Aziz, Subhi reviewed the journey of the college from when it was just an idea till it became a reality.
Dr. Khaled Batterjee said the college has made great achievements in integrated educational programs similar to those provided by other universities worldwide in the area of medicine, dentistry and other health specialties through continuous development of the curricula, programs and partnerships with other local and international universities.
He also unveiled that BMC opened its first dentistry free-of-charge clinics where dentistry students could treat patients, under the supervision of professors.
“The college is keen to graduate qualified young people who can contribute to the building of this country,” Dr. Khaled said, adding, “This ceremony comes to honor our sons and daughters who have made great efforts in their education. It is also a tribute to their their families who stood alongside their children.”
In addition, BMC will open Prince Majed Bin Abdul Aziz Virtual Medicine College in September.
Dr. Hasan Shaibah, vice dean of academic affairs, presented the results of the graduating students.
Dr. Yahya Al Rahibany, the first-ranked graduate, made a very sentimental speech.
At the end of the ceremony, graduates were honored by Prince Mishaal who handed them the graduation certificates, and awards to the top students. At this ceremony, BMC celebrated the graduation of 65 medical, 44 physiotherapy, 19 radiology, and 18 health management graduates.
It is worthy to mention that the college had set up a special committee to prepare for the ceremony and make the necessary arrangements.
