JEDDAH — Lebanese Consul General Ziad Atallah hosted the annual ceremony of Dar Jana International School held under the title “The Land of Cedars” this year.

Consul General Atallah and his spouse Zina received guests at the Consul General’s residence on Wednesday evening.

The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by both the Saudi and Lebanese national anthems.

The ceremony included folklore episodes of traditional Lebanese dances and songs presented by students from different grades.

“The Consulate General of Lebanon is proud to host this ceremony that will remain a fond memory of the heritage, culture and talent of Lebanon,” Atallah said in his opening speech.

“This ceremony ensures the strong relations between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia as well as Arab-Arab relations since students of the school are from diverse Arab countries,” Atallah concluded. Students paid tribute to the late Lebanese poet and writer, Amin Nakhlah, and the famous poet-philosopher and artist Khalil Gibran.

Girls presented different dances, first of which was the Lebanese Dabkeh, Egypt’s Pharaonic dance and Ottoman dances.

Later, songs by the famous Lebanese singers Fayrouz and Sabah were played and a PowerPoint presentation on Lebanon was screened. In attendance were several consuls general from Arab and non-Arab countries, parents and students.
