JEDDAH — You may have seen the bright blue, yellow and orange brochures for Rekaaz being passed out in shopping centers across the Kingdom, but did not fully understand what they stand for.
Rekaaz is a non-profit organization that aims to reinforce the values that are the essence of our religion and to encourage the target audience to adopt the well-balanced code of ethics that define a true Muslim. Their mission is to produce a reflection of one’s beliefs in the entire persona and way of dealing with others. Behavioral change may take time but it is possible and certain habits can be self-acquired even if they do not come naturally at first or are not part of the individual’s character.
As stated in our previous report, Rekaaz organizes campaigns that spread awareness on the importance of smiling, speaking kind words, respecting elders, patience, taking on responsibility and other such behaviors. The goal is to direct and lead one to an improvement of one’s convictions, words and actions. The campaign targets almost everyone; from children to students in schools and universities to the general public and mall goers and to their followers on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. They inspire everyone to join their mission and spread the message among family and friends and at colleagues at work.
Rekaaz has a strong and popular presence in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen and Algeria. It was launched by the well-known, young scholar Dr. Muhammad Al-Awadi in Kuwait but the flame that he lit caught on and spread rapidly.
The most recent campaign expected to reach one million young men and women in cities across the Kingdom is called “You are your words”, and the workshops under this theme will continue until the end of May. This campaign calls for wise and kind selection of spoken words and avoidance of profanity because the words uttered by a young man or woman are representative of who he/she is.
The campaign has proved to be a hit among the community in Abha and similar workshops will be heading to your city soon.
