PHILADELPHIA — Hunter Pence atoned for a ninth-inning error by hitting his second home run of the game, a solo shot in the 10th that lifted the Philadelphia Phillies over the Houston Astros 4-3 Tuesday.

Pence connected off former Philadelphia closer Brett Myers (0-1) with one out to give the Phillies their first three-game winning streak of the season. Pence’s bobble in right field while trying to make a throw home allowed Houston to tie it with two outs in the ninth.

Padres 6, Nationals 1: Stephen Strasburg left after only four innings, matching the second-shortest appearance of his 25-start career, and San Diego’s Will Venable had four hits, leading the Padres to a victory over the Washington Nationals. John Baker collected three hits and three RBIs for San Diego.

Cardinals 7, Cubs 6: Yadier Molina hit an RBI single off second baseman Darwin Barney’s glove with two outs in the ninth inning, helping the Cardinals avoid a sweep and an 0-5 homestand.

Braves 6, Reds 2: Brian McCann homered and the Braves scored four runs in the third inning to deal Johnny Cueto his first loss. Cueto (4-1) led the major leagues with his 1.12 ERA before giving up six runs, five earned, and eight hits in four innings.

Brewers 8, Mets 0: Zack Greinke ran his scoreless streak to 15 innings, Travis Ishikawa homered twice and Milwaukee earned a split of the two-game series. Greinke (4-1) pitched five-hit ball for seven dominant innings.

Marlins 6, Pirates 2: Marlins ace Josh Johnson allowed two runs over seven innings for his first victory in more than a year.

Diamondbacks 5, Dodgers 1: Wade Miley (4-1) wiggled out of a couple jams while pitching into the seventh inning and visiting Arizona snapped the Dodgers’ five-game winning streak.
Rockies 5, Giants 4: Marco Scutaro homered in the ninth inning — his first of the season — to lift visiting Colorado to victory. — Agencies
