JEDDAH — Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ) has created so far this year nearly 3000 job opportunities for women, an official said Sunday while announcing BRJ’s Q1 report.

There has been an increase of more than 300 percent when compared with the same period last year, said Rola Basamad, general director of BRJ Female Employment.

The agency had created 929 job opportunities for women in 2011’s Q1. Basamad said that the Labor Ministry’s new laws favoring women employment was the reason behind this leap.

The Western region took the biggest share of job opportunities, she added.

Jobs were provided in the fields of sales, customer service, call centers and production line supervision. Basamad said the professions matched the psychological nature of women, and that the companies have been satisfied with the performance of women.

“I would like to add that the Saudi female is characterized with her broad mind, perfection and willingness to face challenges. I am confident that the women will show top performance with support from the government and the private sector,” she said.

Companies have positively responded and are coordinating with BRJ to employ women, Basamad said.

The role of the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) in supporting the salaries of Saudi female employees has been a vital factor in motivating companies to hire them, she added. — SG
