CAIRO — Egyptian actress Wafaa Amer was surprised that a lawyer filed a lawsuit against her new TV series “Tahiya Karioka” demanding that it be banned from airing.

The lawyer accused her and the crew of squandering public money and shooting inappropriate scenes. However, Amer denied these accusations saying that the show focuses on the life of the famous Egyptian belly-dancer, and not on her dances. She also said the series will reveal many facts previously unknown about the life of the late belly-dancer. — SG
