Ninety-one thousand pensioners have finally resolved the shortfall in their pensions. Following weeks of ordeal trying to get to the bottom of the unauthorized deductions from the pensioners' accounts, Credit Bank has finally acknowledged that the fault lies with them.

The Bank made the deductions erroneously because it did not know which pensioners should have debt waivers applied to their account! Instead of clarifying the issue, it started deducting from all 91,000 pensioners irrespective of whether the waiver was applicable to them or not.

All the unwitting victims have been requested to visit one of the Bank’s branches to resolve the matter amicably.

Those responsible for what has happened should be taken to task. The untold suffering caused to 91,000 pensioners is inexcusable — especially given their lifelong services to our country.
