JEDDAH — Taibah charity foundation launched its 13th annual two-day bazaar at the Jeddah Hilton Wednesday. Taibah is a charity which supports orphans, widows and divorcees in Madinah.
The foundation, headed previously by Princess Hana Bint Abdullah, was created by Jeddah’s elite housewives who originate from Madinah. The charity funds its Madinah operations through the Bazaar.
The bazaar showcases the latest fashions in Abayas, dresses and Thobes.
“I buy my Eid wardrobe from here every year. I love the genuine uniqueness it offers as I never find anyone wearing the same thing,” said a local woman shopping at the bazaar.
Laylah, head of the charity’s treasury, said, “The members all pay an annual fee but true profit is made through this two-day bazaar we host at the Hilton. Till now, we have provided housing and subsistence for almost 2,000 orphans and 1,000 widows.”
Income is generated from booths rented out to famous designers, bakers and artists who sell their work to the elite crowd who visit the bazaar every year.
“I make my biggest profit from the Taibah bazaar because it attracts the the crème de la crème of society,” said Noha Baafail, an artist.
