Road or phone

Nowadays road accidents in Saudi Arabia have become as common as one’s daily meals. Why is it that an average of 17 people die on the country’s roads each day? Well, it’s because people, particularly youngsters, do not  follow traffic rules even though they know that they should. Instead of focusing on the road and on driving as a good driver must, they are texting, phoning, talking to others in the car and thus diverting their attention from the road. This in turn leads to numerous accidents many of which are fatal. It is a fact that the Kingdom has one of the highest road accident death rates in the world. The Traffic Police and other concerned authorities should create awareness programs and  educational campaigns to warn motorists about the hazards of driving without due care and attention.
