BAGHDAD – Iraqi officials say a suspected Al-Qaeda detainee has tried to blow himself up inside a prison cell in Baghdad, wounding himself and six others.

Police officials said that the suicide bombing attempt took place Wednesday morning inside the suspect’s cell. They say three other prisoners and three policemen were wounded.

Prison authorities are investigating how the inmate, who has been transferred to the Baghdad prison few days ago, managed to get the explosive belt inside the prison complex. The inmate was awaiting a terrorism trial.
