Okaz/Saudi GazetteQUNFUDAH — Security patrols in Al-Qunfudah foiled an attempt by a
Saudi to smuggle more than 31,000 narcotic pills and a large quantity
of gold.

The smuggler was arrested at Al-Methaileef checkpoint, while trying to
cross into Jeddah with his cargo.

The man, accompanied by three of his children, refused to stop and
sped past two checkpoints, before security patrols trapped him on the
Nawan bridge. He struggled with the security personnel but was
overpowered.

The children were taken away from harm’s way, and the pills and gold
were discovered in his car.

The director of Al-Qunfudah police, Brig. Fatten Al-Emairi, said the
smuggler was handed to the Narcotics Control Department.
