JEDDAH — Police detained two men in the historical Balad area during the ongoing Ramadanana Kida festival because one of them was wearing an abaya (long flowing cloak worn by women).

The festival this year is limited to families and single men are not allowed to enter. The young man wore an abaya and high heels as well as a veil and eye makeup.

When he tried to enter the festival with his friend who was posing as his legal guardian, a police officer got suspicious.

The policeman noticed there was something wrong with the way the disguised man was walking and stopped him. Once the man’s identity was revealed, both him and his friend were taken to a police station for questioning.
