BAGHDAD — Two bomb blasts in Baghdad killed at least 10 people on Wednesday, Iraqi officials said.



Police officials said a car bomb went off at noon Wednesday near a car repair shop in an eastern district, killing seven people and wounding 16 others. The blast also damaged several shops and cars. Security forces sealed off the area. Later, a bomb blast killed three people and wounded six on a commercial street in a southwestern neighborhood, police officials said. A medical official confirmed the casualty figures from both attacks. The attacks come as Iraqi forces backed by US-led airstrikes are battling Daesh (the so-called IS) militants across northern and western Iraq. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the Baghdad bombings. Daesh has claimed past attacks targeting security forces and the country’s Shiite majority. — AP
