JEDDAH — To mark the 84th year of the unification of Saudi Arabia by King Abdul Aziz, Pakistan Writers Forum (PWF) recently hosted a joyous event for community members at the VIP hall of Mehran restaurant here.
The reception was attended by a large number of members of Pakistani community.
Former diplomat and writer Dr. Ali Al-Ghamdi presided over the gathering. Renowned poet and president of Aalami Urdu Markaz Ather Nafees Abbasi attended the function as chief guest.
In his speech, Al-Ghamdi highlighted the achievements of the Kingdom in several fields of education, economic security, primary health care, public housing, extension of two holy mosques, railways, agricultural transformation, information and communication technology.
Ather Nafees Abbasi, Mohsin Alvi and Zamarrud Khan Saifi presented their poems on Saudi National Day.
Earlier, acting chairman of PWF Altaf Hussain Awan welcomed all the guests and speakers.
He extended his wishes on behalf of members of PWS and Pakistani community and congratulated to King Abdullah, Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier and the Saudi people on the happy national day of their country.
Well known scholar and poet of Pakistani community Dr. Mohammed Saeed Fazal Kareem Bebani recited few verses from the Holy Qur'an. Naat was present by Sher Afzal and Mohammed Nawaz Junjoa. Touqir Ahmed was the master of ceremony.
