JEDDAH —  A Saudi female designer was taken by surprise when the director of Labor Office in Makkah region refused to inaugurate her new showroom, and instead requested the designer’s mother to be the guest of honor.

“It was a big surprise for me,” said Saudi designer Suha Mousa, founder and owner of Jathal  showroom.  She said that Abdul Munaim Al-Shihri, director of the labor office in Makkah region, was invited to be the guest of honor and cut the ribbon to officially open the showroom. “But when he arrived I introduced him to my mother who was also present there to witness the opening of my new showroom. He refused to cut the ribbon and asked my mother to do the honors.”

Al-Shihri said Mousa’s mother deserved to be the guest of honor. He assured that the Labor Office will always stand by young entrepreneurs and provide them with all help and support.
