MADRIDThe new Saudi Arabian carrier Riyadh Air has announced a nine-year strategic agreement with Atletico Madrid to rename the Spanish club's stadium to Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium.

The official unveiling of the stadium's new name is set to take place on October 20. The contract will be valid until 2033.

Thousands of fans will witness the new name of the stadium being revealed on the main facades, alongside the Riyadh Air logo.

This step comes within the partnership agreement between Riyadh Air and the Spanish club signed on August 10, 2023.

According to the agreement, Riyadh Air has become the official sponsor and exclusive airline partner of the club. The agreement included the appearance of the “Riyadh Aviation” logo on the front of the shirt and the official uniform of Atletico Madrid players.

Riyadh Air is preparing to officially launch in mid-2025, making a prominent mark in the aviation industry through its commitment to providing world-class services to its customers traveling to and from the Middle East, from its headquarters in Riyadh.

It will connect its guests traveling to more than 100 destinations around the world by 2030, by taking advantage of Saudi Arabia’s geographical location between Asia, Africa and Europe.

“This is an important moment in Riyadh Airlines’ football partnership journey, as we witness the renaming of one of the world’s most iconic stadiums to ‘Riyadh Airlines Metropolitano Stadium’,” said Tony Douglas, CEO of the airline company.

He added: “Having the name ‘Riyadh Aviation’ on this historic global sports landmark not only represents a strategic step to enhance our presence in the world of global sports but also contributes to enhancing the position of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh and the company on the international level.”

Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil said: “We are proud to announce the extension of our partnership with Riyadh Air, under which our stadium will be named “Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium.”
